Part 1: Depth of Field
I selected this image because the subject is positioned clearly in the foreground against a detailed background of posters and wall textures, which made it well suited for demonstrating a shallow depth-of-field effect. In Photoshop, I used the Field Blur tool to keep the person sharp while gradually softening the surrounding wall and posters so they recede visually and no longer compete for attention. I made these adjustments to simulate the look of a wide-aperture lens, where only the main subject remains in focus and the background appears softer. This helps guide the viewer’s eye directly to the subject and creates stronger separation between the foreground and background, giving the image a more intentional photographic focus.
